One of the great things about traditional archery is that it can be kept simple with an elegance that can never be achieved by any compound bow. This is undoubtedly the best explanation for the resurgence of traditional archery in the past few years and the primary reason that many accomplished bowhunters are hanging up their compounds and returning to the basics.
Those of us who appreciate the delight in shooting arrows accurately without the benefit of sights, fancy rests or anything but primal instinct will truly appreciate the Solo Longbow from Manchester Archery.
With its 68-inch AMO length, the Manchester Solo is a true longbow based on hundreds of years of traditional design with just enough refelx/deflex in the limbs to take the curse off of the hand shock associated with "pure" longbows. Hand shock is one tradition that most of us can do without.
The limbs and riser of the Solo are constructed from layers of hardwood in contrasting colours overlaid with a layer of fibreglass laminate. The hardwood laminates give the Solo all the classic beauty of the wood while the fibreglass adds the durability and consistency that even the legendary English longbowmen of yore would have admired.
Here at NZAP we have three versions of the Solo in stock. The Basic Solo has a black fibreglass laminate backing and the Deluxe Solo has a clear fibreglass backing that alows the beauty of the natural wood show through. The Bamboo Solo is backed with a lovely thin layer of bamboo under the clear laminate giving it the classic look of a custom-made bow costing much more than what you will pay.
