Tough and Dependable!

The riser of the Firefox recurve is the same one used on our popular Mohegan take-down recurve target bows in the 54 and 62 inch sizes. It is built up of multiple layers of contrasting hardwoods for an attractive natural-wood look that is as strong as it is beautiful.

The limbs of he Firefox are laminated from layers of light-coloured maple hardwood with thin layers of black fibreglass on the outer surfaces. The limbs are held in place with steel bolts that are deeply knurled so that assembly and disassembly is easily accomplished without any tools.

All Firefox bows from NZAP come with a durable and dependable Hoyt Hunter arrow rest and a Dacron bowstring with a nock point pre installed so that your bow will arrive ready to shoot. All you have to do is assemble the limbs to the riser, string the bow, knock an arrow and you are away. Firefox recurves are available in right and left-hand models in the following configurations: 62-inch models are available in draw weights from 16 thru 40 pounds in two-pound increments. 66-inch models are available in draw weights from 16 thru 36 pounds in four-pound increments, 68-inch models are available in draw weights from 20 thru 36 pounds in 4-pound increments.

30-Day Free Exchange on Limbs!

Naturally we at NZAP want your new bow to be just the right draw weight, so we have extended our normal seven-day return period for the limbs of all our Greatree bows to 30 days. This gives you a month to try out your new bow then if you want heavier or lighter limbs, we will exchange them at no cost. We only ask that you keep the limbs in good condition and pay the postage on the exchange limbs.

And a Free Stringer With Every Bow!

Your new Greatree Firefox bow is a rugged piece of gear, but it is a piece of precision equipment so it will require some care. We recommend that the bow never be strung or unstrung using the old over-the-foot, under-the-knee technique as this can damage the limbs. It is important to always use a proper bow stringer so NZAP is providing one free of charge with every new Greatree Firefox. We will also install a free Hoyt Hunter Arrow Rest as they are a bit more durable than the one that is provided with the bow (We will send the original along so you can keep it as a spare).

A Few More Traditional Bows From NZAP

Archery Tips and Tricks QUICK TIP

Unstringing (or Not Unstringing) Traditional Bows

Believe it or not there is no reason (other than convenience in transport and storage) to unstring a modern traditional bow every time you use it. Back in the good-old days of solid wood bows, an unstrung bow would quickly "follow the string" becoming permanently bowed and losing power. With today's materials and adhesives, however, this is no longer a problem and most fibreglass/wood laminated recurve and longbows can be left strung between shooting sessions. Just make sure your strung bow isn't subjected to heat or humidity and don't stand it in a corner. Store it horizontally, either on a shelf or hanging by the string on hooks. Naturally, if you aren't going to shoot for a few days, you should unstring your bow and store it properly.
