Ratchet Loc Portable Bow Press

Ratchet Loc Bow Press

The Ratchet-Loc Bow Press combines the latest principals of engineering design and the specific recruitments of modern bowhunters and archery target shooters. It works well with all types of compound bow, both solid and split limbs (with no split-limb adapter needed), and is particularly useful for working on the new bows with pre-stressed "beyond parallel" limbs, such as the Mathews Monster and the PSE X Force. It can even be used on most crossbows.

The Ratchet-Loc isn't as compact as the BowMaster Bow Press (listed below) but it weighs only slightly more than a kilogram (2-1/2 pounds), and collapses to fit into a handy and compact carrying bag that is supplied with the press. Heavy duty construction of aviation-grade aluminium and steel assures years of faithful trouble-free service. It is plenty rugged enough to stand up to the everyday use of a busy professional archery shop and we have one that has become an essential part of the NZAP repair kit.

Operation of the press is very simple. The precision machined aluminium arms are fitted over the limbs of the bow then locked in place with a rubber-coated steel pin that is secured with a safety pin. Then the heavy-duty ratchet (similar to a common trucker's load strap) is activated to gradually and safely compress the limbs until the string and cables go slack.

The Ratchet Loc Bow Press is currently out of stock. They have been ordered and more are on the way. For earliest delivery you may place your order now and we will send your bow press as soon as they arrive. Naturally, we will not charge your card until it your bow press is ready to be shipped to you.

Portable Bow Press

BowMaster Bow Press

At a time when compound bows are becoming more and more complicated, working on them has become a little simpler with the BowMaster portable bow press.

The BowMaster puts all the capabilities of a full size bow press in the palm of your hand and is small enough to fit easily into your belt pack or even your pocket, making it portable enough to take on those long bow hunts into the bush or outback.

This press allows the archer to easily replace the string or cables, install peep sights, adjust draw length, or do anything else that you would normally have done with a larger press at a pro shop. Especially recommended for that dream trip into the bush where a broken string could mean disaster. And it is so easy to use that at NZAP we frequently use ours instead of the big floor-mounted press.

Saunders Bow Square

Saunders Forkhorn Bow Square

The Saunders Forkhorn Bow Square uses a round rod extension that is the same diameter as a 20XX aluminium arrow shaft so that it sits on the rest in the same position as an arrow.

The T section of the Forkhorn is offset so that it won't interfere with kisser buttons or string loops and still gives an accurate reading.

Eastman Outfitters Bow Square

Offset Bow Square

This bow square from Carbon Express (it formerly came from Eastman Outfitters) has the string clips offset so that the square will clear nock points, string loops, kisser buttons and other string accessories that can get in the way of other squares.

Flat bow squares can sometimes be more useful than the ones with the round beam, especially for setting up rests for thin arrows, and checking tiller and brace height.

Archery Tips and Tricks QUICK TIP

A Quick and Easy String Spreader

Replacing the centre serving on a compound bow isn't made any easier by the close proximity of the cables to the string. Typically, the string is only a centimeter or two away from the cable, making it too tight a fit for even the smallest string serving jig.

You can correct this problem with string separator made out of a 10- or 12-centimeter long section of an old arrow shaft that takes a push-in type nock. Simply cut the shaft to length and put the appropriate-sized nock in each end and you have a string separator.

To use, put one nock on the string and force the string and cable apart enough to get the other nock on the cable. Now you have plenty of room for your serving tool. And like with a lot of things, two of these gadgets works even better than just one.
