QUICK TIP
Inspired by a question by Jeff from Wellington

A Few Tips on String Serving.

Doing your own servings isn't difficult but there are a few tricks to it. With Diamondback serving material, four or five Kgs of tension on the jig will give you a tight permanent serving. To keep the tension even throughout the length of the serving, first strip three or four meters of material from the spool. Now wind it back on so that it piles up in the centre of the spool. Now when you serve the string, all the material will come from the centre of the spool keeping the tension even through the entire job. You can set the tension using a simple fishing scale that you can buy in the hunting and fishing stores. Tie the end of the serving material on to the hook of the scale and read the tension as you strip off a bit of material. Most bows need about six to eight inches of serving. Two or three inches above the nock point and four to six inches below the nock point is about right.
