Free String Silencers
If you are looking for a really cool string silencer for free, just use the inside of a piece of bungee cord. It has a bunch of rubber fingers just like a regular string silencer. Put it on your string with some thread tied real tight and you are all set.
Bungee-cord string silencers can be just a effective as the real cat-whisker type and they look about the same, but they don't last as long because they are made from a different kind of rubber. It doesn't matter though because they are so cheap that you won't mind installing a new pair every so often.
