BCY Halo String Serving Material

BCY Halo Bow-String Serving Material

BBCY Halo Bow-String Serving Material is braided from solid Spectra, one of the strongest and most durable fibres known to man and is being used in everything from militery body armor to kite strings and of course it is the primary component in most high-tech string materials. It also makes wonderful string servings as anyone who has tried Halo can tell you. Halo is a particular favourite of finger shooters and FITA competitors.

NZAP have Halo in three sizes and only in black. The .014 size is just the thing for serving compound strings where the string wraps around the wheels and cams. The .019 size is by for the most popular for centre servings, and the .024 works well when you neet ot bulk up a string to fit your nocks.

Brownell Crossbow Serving Material

Crossbow Center Serving Material

Strings used on both recurve and compound crossbows are subject to many times more wear and abrasion than string on regular traditional and compound bows and, therefore, need larger and stronger serving material.

This serving by Brownell has been developed specifically for the center servings of modern crossbows and will outlast any other material on the market. It is .035 inches in diameter and made from abrasion-resistant polyethylene fibers. Be warned, however, that regular renewal of the centre serving is a part of crossbow shooting, and even with this advanced material, your servings won't last as long as they do on a standard bow. Available in various colours.

Archery Tips and Tricks from NZAP QUICK TIPS

Make Sure Your Serving is Tight

As with most things, there is a right way and a wrong way to install centre serving. First, make sure the strands of the string you are serving or re-serving are straight with no twist. Now wax the area for serving and wind on the serving material with moderate tension on the material. Three to five KGs of tension is about right. Once the centre serving is installed, retwist the string making sure that the twist of the string goes in the same direction wind of the serving so as you twist, the winding is tightened on the string.

This simple procedure results in a centre serving that is tight and secure against unraveling. If you get it wrong and twist the string against the wind of the serving, the serving may loosen after only a few shots.
