The Toxonics 1400 has a laser-etched graduated scale with a precision steel pointer for dependable yardage setting and a sturdy toggled locking knob to insure that your vertical settings stay where you want them. Archery Tips and tricks QUICK TIPS

Sighting in Your New Target Sight

Start your sighting-in procedure at approximately 7 meters. The windage and distance settings on your sight at this short distance are actually very close to the ones you would use at 20 meters and there is less of a risk of missing the target and losing an arrow. Use a target with an X in the middle to give you an obvious aiming point and shoot your first arrow. The first arrows are for windage or horizontal adjustment and the rule is to follow the arrow with the sight pin. (i.e. if your first arrow goes left, move your sight pin to the left, if your first arrows is right, move your sight pin to the right, and so on.) Always make very small adjustments and shoot an arrow or two after each adjustment. Continue this process until your arrow is hitting the target on a vertical line with the in the middle of the target.

Now it is now time to do your vertical or distance adjustment using the same concept of following the arrow. (i.e. if your arrow is high, move your sight pin up, if your arrow is low, move your sight pin down, and so on.) To make vertical pin adjustments, loosen the lock knob sight-pin block (the bit that slides up and down) and move the sight block up or down as needed. When you are consistently hitting the X at 7 yards, step back to 20 yards and do the entire procedure all over again. Then do the same at 25, 30, 35 meters and mark your sight tape for each distance. If you find that your sight block needs to move higher or lower, you will need to remount the vertical sight bar to the extension bar and position them higher or lower as needed. then do the entire sighting procedure all over again.

This all sounds very tedious, but it will soon become routine and you will be making these adjustments without even thinking about them.
