In recent years, sales of carbon arrows have far outstripped the sale of aluminium arrows. The reasons are many: aluminium arrows are seen as old fashioned by some, and they are perceived as being less durable than the tough carbon shafts now on the market. There is no doubt about the positive features of some of the amazing new carbon shafts now on the market, but there is still a strong demand for the aluminium ones. The Camo Hunter from Easton Archery is currently an NZAP best seller for several reasons. The most important reason for staying with aluminium is the cost. Not too long ago, we sold hundreds of dozens of Camo Hunters at over $16 a set. Now you can buy a dozen of the much improved version (the addition of the UniBushing and the Super Nock was a major step forward) for less that $10 each.
Another important advantage of the Camo Hunter over carbon shafts is the much larger variety of shaft sizes available. With 16 sizes to choose from, it is that much easier to find just the right shaft for your bow than it is with a carbon shaft that might have four. This is particularly true with traditional bows that don't enjoy the adjustability of a modern compound bow. It is easy to tune a compound bow to accept a range of arrow sizes but you just can't do that with a recurve or a longbow.
We will mention one last advantage of staying with an aluminium arrow before we move on: in the larger sizes (2213 and above) Camo Hunters make excellent line cutters that will give competitors an measurable advantage on the 3D range. With Easton FatBoys costing twice as much as Camo Hunters, you will have all the advantages of the fatter shaft without having a lost or broker arrow wreck your day.
Unless you are ordering bare shafts, the price posted is for a complete ready-to-shoot arrow and includes fletching to your specifications with Vanes, a Super Nock (the two smallest sizes, 1816 and 1916 come with an X Nock pre installed), an RPS insert, and a field point, all of your choice. Sorry, you don't get a free broadhead. The one in the photo is there for illustrative purposes only and is not included with the arrow.
If you prefer to make you own arrows, Camo Hunter are also available as a bare shaft with Super Nock and insert included in the price. If you click on "Do Not Cut" under the length selection, we will send the inserts to you loose. If you select a length, we will epoxy the inserts in place, unless instructed to do otherwise.
The Camo Hunter arrows are available from NZAP in all sixteen sizes: 1816, 1916, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2114, 2117, 2213, 2215, 2216, 2219, 2314, 2315, 2317, 2413 and 2514.
* These prices include fletching to your specifications with Elite Plastifletch, Bohning X Vanes, Blazer Vanes,Duravanes, or Fusion Vanes plus a nock, insert and field point.
Feather fletching cost us more to buy than vanes do, so there is a slight additional charge for this service.
