A few years ago, when we first started our Question and Answer page, someone asked what the perfect bow for the New Zealand bush would be like. We answered that it would be short for easy manoeuvrability in the thick stuff, which is about 90 percent of new Zealand, and it would also be light to carry as a two or three hour tramp into a good hunting block is about average and a six or eight hour tramp isn't unusual. The perfect bow would also have a generous brace height for a forgiving shot when the bowhunter is out of breath from climbing or shivering from the cold of a summer shower, and, of course, it would be dead silent. Someone at Mathews has obviously been reading our Q & A page as the new Mathews HyperLite fits our description to a T.
Whether you're hunting thar on the Canterbury tops, whitetails in the thick ferns of Stewart Island, or stalking the monster red deer of the Nelson Lakes, the going is going to be tough and a lot of extra unnecessary weight is something you aren't going to need. The Mathews HyperLite weighs just 3.45 lbs (less than 1.6 kilograms) and is just the hunting bow you need for trekking through tough terrain to where the trophies are waiting. Not only is it lightweight and forgiving, but the HyperLite is smooth and accurate with IBO arrow speeds of up to 325 FPS and .
The specs of the new HyperLite are more than impressive. With an IBO arrow speed of up to 325 fps from a short (29.75 A to A) bow with a 7-inch brace height is about as good as it gets. All this in a package that weighs much less that 2 kilograms. Like all 2009 Mathews bows, the HyperLite is available in the Mathews exclusive Lost-Camo pattern or, by special order, in black.
The 2009 Mathews HyperLite is not available on-line.
