At NZAP our very most important customers are the young people just getting started in the sport simply because without their participation there can't be any future for archery. It is vitally important that your son or daughter (or anyone just getting started in archery) be supplied with quality equipment as nothing is as frustrating than trying to do well with inadequate bows and arrows.
If your son or daughter is not fitted with the proper bow, it simply won't be fun to shoot, and you can be assured that if it isn't fun to shoot, he or she won't shoot it. Interest will quickly flag and the bow will end up in the closet waiting for your next yard sale. We have selected the bows listed below because we feel they represent the best on the market for value and durability. You will notice one toy bow present. This is because children under the age of 5 or 6 have a strong desire to participate in archery, just like mum and dad. but many of them don't have the physical capabilities just yet. And on of the worst things you can do is give a child a bow that is too powerful for them to shoot easily.
Picking just the right bow for your child can be tricky as it is hard to know what works without trying it first. Therefore all our bows are available on trial. If you buy any bow that isn't just right for you send it back in it's original condition within a week of receipt. We will refund your money or send you a different model (your choice) of bow and all that it will cost you is the postage.
The youth bows and archery starter kits for kids listed here are great fun to shoot but they aren't toys (toy bows are in our Toy Bows and Archery Toys section
and, when children are using them, adult supervision is recommended.

This is the same Compound Bow starter set that comes with the Tiger package listed above. It comes with everything you need to get going in archery with a basic youth compound bow, except the bow of course.

Martin Compound Bow

Here is a 33-inch compound bow from Martin Archery designed specifically for the young archer who wants a bow like mum and dad have.
The Martin Compound Bow
for Kids has a draw weight of only 9 1/2 pounds with about 50% let off so it is manageable for most youngsters from about age six and up. Colour is black and it works for both right and left-hand shooters.
This bow is a good choice for backyard target shooting but it isn't a toy and adult supervision of young children using it is required.

Here is the Kid's Compound Bow with our Basic Recurve Starter Set, which contains a basic quiver with a belt clip, a youth arm guard, finger tab, 40cm Bullseye target face, ABC's of Archery booklet, and three cedar arrows with feather fletching.
(Note: We recommend the recurve Starter Set with this bow because the fiberglass arrows that come with the Basic Compound Starter Set are a bit heavy for the light draw weight. If you want the Basic Compound Starter Set anyway, for the more durable arrows, add $10.00 (AU$8.00) and tell us about it in the remarks section of the order form.)
