Bohning Insert Iron Adhesive

Bohning Insert Iron Point and Insert Adhesive

The cool thing about Bohning Insert Iron Adhesive that makes it different from most other adhesives used in arrow making is that it expands quite dramatically as it sets. This expansion locks the insert or point into the shaft with a practically indestructible bond resistant to impact shock and moisture proof.

Insert Iron is also heat reversible, unlike epoxies and cyanoacetates (super glue), so that if you stuff up inserting an arrow component, just warm the shaft over the stove or with a heat gun and the insert or point pops right out.

Each one-ounce (28.5 gram) bottle contains enough Insert Iron to install approximately 100 points or inserts.

Brownell Liquid Lok and Cam EZ

Brownell Liquid Lok and Cam EZ Two Pack

CAM EZ from Brownell is a specially formulated lubricant designed to remove the friction and prevent wear on the bow string where the string serving slides over the cams. Cam EZ is a very efficient lube that can be reapplied as needed and works well with any Brownell products and most serving materials from other companies. Cam EZ is not toxic and contains no hazardous materials.

Liquid Lok is formulated to increase the longevity of bowstring serving strings by preventing the separation of servings at the weakest point where the string rolls over cams. Liquid Lok is safe to use on all string-serving material and contains no harmful or hazardous substances. To use Liquid Lok, apply a few drops to the serving area of your string before and after serving it, then wait about a hour before re stringing your bow. Be sure to apply Liquid Lok to your servings before you lubricate them with Cam EZ as it doesn't work after Cam EZ has been applied.

You get a two-ounce drip bottle of each of these great products in this two-pack kit along with a full set of detailed instructions for use.

Bohning Fletching Tape

Bohning Feather-Fletching Tape

Bohning feather-fletching tape works with any single-fletch jig to save time on every arrow you fletch. Bohning fletching tape is a continuous bead of powerful dry glue which you apply like tape. It adheres instantly and creates a strong, reliable bond on contact quickly bonding feathers to arrows made of aluminium, carbon or wood...and your arrow can be shot immediately.

Unlike dangerous liquid instant adhesives, Bohning fletching tape cannot bond flesh or splash into eyes. It is very easily cleaned from any shaft for re-fletching. Each roll contains enough tape for at least 3 1/2 dozen arrows with 5-inch feathers or vanes. Feather-Fletching tape is not recommended for plastic vanes.

Directions: Apply tape to feather quill. Trim with scissors, leave 1/8" overhang on each end. Remove tape backing. Press feather firmly onto arrow shaft. Make sure base fully contacts shaft.

Bohning Fer-L-Tite

Ferr-L-Tite Hot-Melt Adhesive

Ferr-L-Tite Hot-Melt Adhesive is used by arrow makers everywhere for gluing inserts into alloy shafts and points on to wood shafts. Produces a tough, elastic, water-proof bond.

Don't get Ferr-L-Tite confused with the standard hot-melt glue that you get at Miter 10 or at the timber yard. This stuff is much tougher, melts at a higher temperature, and it retains a degree of flexibility so it doesn't shatter on impact.

Archery Tips and Tricks QUICK TIP

Using Instant Gel

Cyanoacetate glues such as Fletch Tite Instant Gel, Duraloc, and Fastset Gel are great when you are in a hurry, and they are essential with carbon shafts, however they can be tricky to use. With regular glues, a good healthy bead of glue on the base of the fletch is the way to go--just enough for a slight squeeze out all along the edge of the fletch.

With the cyanoacetates you must use as little glue as possible while still covering the entire base of the fletch. Instead of running a bead of glue, try smearing the base with the tip of the tube applying only enough to barely coat the base. Now touch the fletch to the shaft and immediately remove it. If the glue transferred to the shaft shows that you have complete coverage, put the fletch in place permanently. You can remove the clamp after about ten seconds. If there is any squeeze out at all, you are using too much glue. If there isn't complete transfer, try readjusting your jig until there is.

If you are using the correct amount of adhesive and your jig is properly adjusted, a 3-gram tube should easily do two dozen arrows.
