Bohning Fletching Tape

Bohning Feather-Fletching Tape

Bohning feather-fletching tape works with any single-fletch jig to save time on every arrow you fletch. Bohning fletching tape is a continuous bead of powerful dry glue which you apply like tape. It adheres instantly and creates a strong, reliable bond on contact quickly bonding feathers to arrows made of aluminium, carbon or wood...and your arrow can be shot immediately.

Unlike dangerous liquid instant adhesives, Bohning fletching tape cannot bond flesh or splash into eyes. It is very easily cleaned from any shaft for re-fletching. Each roll contains enough tape for at least 3 1/2 dozen arrows with 5-inch feathers or vanes. Feather-Fletching tapw is not recommended for plastic vanes.

Directions: Apply tape to feather quill. Trim with scissors, leave 1/8" overhang on each end. Remove tape backing. Press feather firmly onto arrow shaft. Make sure base fully contacts shaft.

Archery Tips and Tricks QUICK TIP

Using Instant Gel

Cyanoacetate glues such as Fletch Tite Instant Gel, Duraloc, and Fastset Gel are great when you are in a hurry, and they are essential with carbon shafts, however they can be tricky to use. With regular glues, a good healthy bead of glue on the base of the fletch is the way to go--just enough for a slight squeeze out all along the edge of the fletch.

With the cyanoacetates you must use as little glue as possible while still covering the entire base of the fletch. Instead of running a bead of glue, try smearing the base with the tip of the tube applying only enough to barely coat the base. Now touch the fletch to the shaft and immediately remove it. If the glue transferred to the shaft shows that you have complete coverage, put the fletch in place permanently. You can remove the clamp after about ten seconds. If there is any squeeze out at all, you are using too much glue. If there isn't complete transfer, try readjusting your jig until there is.

If you are using the correct amount of adhesive and your jig is properly adjusted, a 3-gram tube should easily do two dozen arrows.
