From the very beginning, The Elite story, to many of us watching in silent amusement from the side lines, has been a bit of a soap opera. Elite was founded in 2005 in the western USA and during the ensuing five years the company has gone through three seperate ownerships and has endured scores of high-profile lawsuits and counter lawsuits. But regardless of the amazing legal and political infighting and accusations of back stabbing, patent infringement, and theft of intellectual property, there is one thing that nearly everyone agreed on: Elite was making and marketing some of the best compound bows ever produced.
Now, finally, Elite appears to have emerged for the legal turmoil with a stable and competent management team, superb designs, and an aggressive customer-oriented marketing policy. They have put the past behind them while carrying on with the business at hand, and they are still making some of the best compound bows available today.
Up to now, any claim by any manufacturer of producing a "forgiving speed bow" would have been shrugged off as just more advertising nonsense. After all, speed bows are twitchy, hyper-sensitive to torque, notoriously hard to shoot, noisy, and are guilty of sacrificing accuracy on the alter of speed; everyone knows that. But not the Judge! The new 2010 Elite Judge is quiet as they come, it is smooth to draw, and it is as easy to shoot as any bow with a seven-inch brace height.
It is the six-inch brace height that puts the 2010 Elite Judge firmly in the speed-bow category, and with the Revolution cams delivering ABO speeds approaching 350 fps this classification it firmly justified. However, the ATA length just short of 35 inches and a weight of just over 4 pounds, means the Judge is a top-notch hunting or 3D bow as well.
