Super Compact Traditional Crossbow
There is no doubt that there are some important advantages to choosing a traditional crossbow rather than the more popular compound configuration. For one thing the string is easy to change in the field. If you break a string on a compound crossbow, you are pretty much out of business until you can get the bow into a properly equipt archery shop. A string change on a traditional crossbow doesn't take any longer than it does on a longbow or a recurve. Another advantage, often over looked, is accuracy and reliability of operation. While the compound crossbows we sell are capable of astonishing accuracy, nothing can quite measure up to the tack-driving dependability of a recurve prod on the front of your crossbow. This is the reason that the many target crossbows used in international competition are fitted with Excalibur prods.

The new Excalibur Axiom Crossbow is superbly crafted, as are all Excalibur crossbow, and is capable of casting a bolt at speeds that exceed 305* feet-per-second with amazing accuracy and shot-after-shot reliability. (*These speeds are generated using 350-grain bolt and an optional Flemish Dyneema String). The 175-pound draw weight and the generous 14.5-inch power stroke make the Axiom a very comfortable bow to cock either with or without the supplied cocking aid, and the Axiom's light 6 pound mass weight make it a joy to carry on any long tramp in the bush.
The Excalibur Axiom may be small but with an arrow speed of 320 feet per second and a 175-pound draw weight, it can deliver all the power necessary to take any game animal in New Zealand or Australia. Plus, with the help of the cocking aid, the Axiom Crossbow is the perfect choice for the ever expanding field of lady bowhunters or for younger bowhunters who will need a smaller and lighter bow to get started on their crossbow hunting careers.
