Arrow Nocks
Most archers are pretty fussy about the nocks we put on their arrows and with good reason. A proper nock is very important to the flight of the arrow. Many bows that come into NZAP for service have arrows with nocks that are too tight on the string. To check the fit of your nocks, nock the arrow and suspend it by the string. It should remain securely on the string. Now jar the bow by striking the riser sharply with the palm of your hand and the arrow should fall off of it's own weight. Any arrow that requires a tug to remove from the string has a too-tight nock. The best way to correct a too-tight nock is to re-serve the string (it's probably about ready for new serving anyway) with a smaller diameter serving. (if you have monofilament serving you can sometimes actually sand it down to a smaller size with fine, 600 or 800, emery paper if you are very careful)
Glue-On Arrow NocksThese nocks have a 11-degree taper and glue on the end of swaged aluminium and wood shafts. We have four types from three manufacturers and many colours. Because of the large variety of glue-on nocks available, we are likely to be out of some colours and types from time to time. When this happens we will substitute the closest to your request that we have. If you have a specific nock or colour you must have, tell us about it in the remarks section of the order form and we will do what we can to get it for you. Price $3.50 (AU$2.80) for 12

QUICK TIP
A Cool Way to Fit Nocks to Your String.If your nocks are too tight on your string try this little trick. Immerse the ears of the nock in boiling water for about three seconds, just enough to soften the plastic slightly. Now slip the hot nock onto the string and let it cool in place. Try the nock and if the fit is correct, do the rest of your arrows exactly the same way. |
