QuickSpin ST Hunter Vanes |
The new QuickSpin ST Hunter Bowhunting Vanes from New Archery Products are the newest version of this popular vane. The 2-inch length of the Hunter is just the right size and shape to stabilise broadheads on carbon arrows shot from high-speed compound bows. Patented micro grooves on one side channel air for a flatter trajectory than conventional vanes. The QuickSpin ST Hunter has the same patented "kicker" as the other QuickSpins. This kicker increases arrow spin by as much as 300% compared with conventional vanes for tighter groups – even with broadheads. The Hunter also has the same micro grooves on one side of the vane and the combination of kicker and micro groves work together to stabilize your arrows in less than half the distance of conventional vanes or feathers.

Straight, Offset, or Full Helical? One question that shows up frequently on our Q and A page is, "how should I fletch my arrows; straight, offset, or helical? Here is our (somewhat simplified) take on the subject. Straight Fletching, is hardly ever used any more as even a degree or so of offset will impart spin to the arrow and help to stabilise it. Years ago we used to put fletching on straight in the belief that any offset would slow the flight, but this has been shown to be false. Full helical will slow the arrow somewhat but a slight offset, hardly at all. Offset Fletching of two or three degrees is used for nearly all target vanes, and any vane or feather that is used with a prong-type arrow rest, a shoot-through arrow rest or the new Quicktune 360 Capture rest from NAP. Hunting arrows usually benefit from as much spin as possible but full helical often doesn't work well with prong or shoot through rests so offset fletching is used as a compromise. Helical Fletching is used on all feather fletched arrows for traditional bows, and on all hunting arrows shot from bows using drop=away arrow rests, or Whisker Biscuit arrow rests. Right or left helical fletching is strictly a matter of preference and usually has no effect on arrow flight or rest clearance. Once again, this is just a guide and should only be used as a starting point in finding just the right fletching for your arrows |
