This is the innovative new arrow rest as introduced by Carolina Archery several eventful decades ago. The Original Whisker Biscuit employs synthetic bristles (whiskers) completely encircling the arrow shaft and holding it in perfect alignment with the string and sight for a super-accurate totally repeatable shot. Missing, of course, is the Quick Load slot in the biscuit and is found on subsequent models.
With a basic, no-frills design, the Original is the best way to get a genuine Whisker Biscuit mounted on your bow without dropping a heap of cash on the job. The salient features of the Original are the simple two-grub-screw setup and total flexibility in adjustments. The Original is available in black only and will fit left or right-handed bows.
The Quick Shot version of the famous Whisker Biscuit arrow rest has a bit more flash than the Original and it will hold your adjustments much more securely, resisting the bumps and vibration commonly encountered by Australian and Kiwi bowhunters.
The Quick Shot will be an excellent choice to mount on any compound bow and it is perfectly suited to use with all modern hunting arrows and broadheads. The new composite-encased biscuit is 150% stronger than previous models of biscuit and has a ergogenicly tapered entry slot to allow quick and easy arrow loading whilst preventing snags when stalking or tramping through the bush.
The Quick Shot works equally well with fingers or a release aid and will fit on both left and right hand bows. Available with small, medium and large biscuits in black only.
The new Whisker Biscuit Dead Shot has an cast-aluminium housing that is a full 300% stronger than older models and twice as strong as the Quick Shot with its composite housing listed above. Plus the Whisker Biscuit engineers have added a rock-solid, dual-bolt mounting system to the Dead Shot for even more secure mounting. This is a rest that won't shake loose even under the toughest bowhunting conditions.
The Dead Shot has easy-to-read, laser-engraved windage adjustment calibrations, is available in black and camo versions and works on both left- and right-hand bows.
Here is the camo version of the Whisker Biscuit Dead Shot Arrow rest. It is identical in every way to the black version listed above except, of course for the high-contrast camo finish.
When Whisker Biscuit arrow rests were first introduced to the bowhunting public, the biscuit was built with a single type of bristle that completely surrounded the arrow shaft. These worked fine but because of the increased wear on the bottom bristles caused by the weight of the arrow, they tended to wear out quickly.
All the rests sold by NZAP have the second generation biscuit with two types of fibres. The brown fibers support the arrow shaft whole allowing the fletching to pass through the biscuit without damaging the vanes or noticeably slowing the arrow. The black bristles in the bottom section of the biscuit are stronger than the brown bristles and give the added support needed to prevent premature wear.
The Whisker Biscuit Sure Shot makes setup and bow tuning easier than ever before with precision micro windage and elevation adjustment protected with nylon bushings to ease adjustments and prevent sticking from dust and dirt.
Laser-engraved reference marks on the Sure Shot elevation scales make the calibrations stand out from the base so they are easy to see. Adjustments on the windage and elevation scales can be made quickly with single allen wrench (not provided) even in low-light shooting conditions. The Sure Shot attaches to the riser with a new dual-bolt mounting system that has the added security of a set screw to prevent the mounting plate from ever coming loose.
The Whisker Biscuit Sure Shot Camo is exactly the same arrow rest as the black version listed above, but with an attractive camo pattern proprietary to Whisker Biscuit arrow rests.
We are frequently are asked if it is important to mount a camo arrow rest on a camo bow. Because the concealing effect of the camo pattern on a small accessory is minimal it probably is not going to make any difference in the visibility of the bow over a plain black one. The reason for using the camo pattern is mostly cosmetic in that a camo accessory on a camo bow frequently looks better than a black one will.
The actual biscuit part of your Whisker Biscuit arrow rest will last for thousands of shots before wearing out (provided you have the correct size biscuit, of course--see NZAP Quick Tip below), and when it finally does run out, the biscuit is easily renewed with the replacements listed here.
Keep in mind that a biscuit that has been used for a season or two can look quite tatty and still function properly so it is perfectly acceptable to delay replacement until you notice an actual deterioration of performance.
Proper arrow fit with a Whisker Biscuit arrow rest is very important. A poorly fitting biscuit can result in slower arrow speed, poor flight, damaged fletching, and rapid wear of the biscuit. Generally you want the arrow to fit loosely with plenty of room (one or two millimeters is about right) at the tip of the arrow shaft, as in the graphic.
For aluminium arrows larger than 2013 (up to 23XX), use the large biscuit; for aluminium arrows size 1916 to 1713 and for standard-dimension carbon arrows (Gold Tip, Lightspeed, Beman Bowhunter, etc.)use the medium biscuit; and for aluminium arrows smaller than 1713 and for ST Epic, ST Excel, ST Axis, Axis FMJ and other small-diameter carbon arrows, use the small biscuit.
When in doubt always go for the larger size as an oversized biscuit will work fine, but one that is too small won't shoot well and can damage your fetching.
