Muzzy X-Celerator Drop Away Arrow Rest

The Muzzy X-Celerator drop-away arrow rest is an updated version of our old-favourite Zero Effect, which is still offered below. The X-Celerator is everything the older Zero Effect was and a lot more. The best thing about the X-Celerator is that one model can be mounted on nearly any compound bow made, new or old. There is no need for left- and right-handed models plus installation is quick and easy requiring only basic tools (adjustable spanner and a few allan keys) and is usually complete and ready to go in less than five minutes.

Like its famous Zero Effect ancestor, the X-Cellerator uses a direct-drive design with a rigid (not a string) attachment directly onto the downward bus cable. Direct mechanical linkage brings the rest up when at full draw and actually drives the rest hook downward out of the way of the arrow on release. This direct linkage allows easy adjustment of the speed at which the rest drops as well as the amount of rest travel before the drop, the two crucial adjustments when setting up a drop-away rest, giving you the perfect arrow launch on every shot.

The X-Celerator's innovative design allows for 100% fletching clearance on all bows regardless of bow speed, draw length or cable slide travel, and the absence of springs and strings ensures accurate, reliable performance with every shot on every bow. Mounts easily onto right or left-hand bows.

Archery Tips and tricks QUICK TIPS

Tuning Your Drop Away Arrow Rest

The most common problem with setting up and tuning a new drop away arrow rest is fletch contact. To avoid this, first install your new drop-away very carefully by exactly following the manufacturer's instructions. Now spray some foot-powder or spray deodorant on the arrow holder part of the rest and have a shot. If there is any fletch contact at all, the foot powder will show a distinct mark. If there is no mark on the powder, give yourself a pat on the back and proceed with paper tuning.

If there is a fletch mark on the powder, you have a bit more work to do. First make sure that your fletching is oriented properly. Most of today's drop-away rests, such as the Muzzy X-Celerator and the QAD UltraRest, shoot best with the cock fletch up. Older prong-style drop-aways, such as the QuickTune 2000, prefer the cock fletch to be down. The next step is to double check the timing, making sure that the linkage to the bow is installed precisely as the manufacturer recommends.

If everything else is in order, it is time to adjust the nock point on the string. Start with the nock point at 90-degrees then gradually rise it until you no longer get a fletch mark on the powder. Now proceed with your paper test. On right-handed bows, your tear would be slightly high or high and to the left. Up to one inch is perfectly acceptable for most bows. More than that and you should consult a professional at your local pro shop, or send it in to NZAP and we will sort it out for you.
